Your goal is to lose belly fat, but nothing you’ve tried seems to work. In this article, I will show you 3 powerful tips you must follow if you want to start making real progress once and for all.

Before we begin, I have to get something off my chest. You absolutely have to stop listening to the TV infomercials where they tell you that you can easily lose belly fat by taking their pill, or by purchasing their gadgets. There are no magic weight loss pills, and no gadget will do the work for you.

That type of advertising does legitimate belly fat loss methods a disservice. It creates unrealistic expectations, and when you don’t achieve the type of fat loss that’s advertised, it causes you to lose hope, and perhaps even give up.

Now that we got out of the way, here are the tips I recommend if you really want to lose belly fat:

1. Stop doing hundreds of crunches, or any other direct abs work.

I know this goes against the grain for how you’re supposed to lose belly fat, but bear with me. It doesn’t matter how many crunches, or side bends you do, no amount of direct abs work is going to reduce your belly fat.

The reason is that spot-reduction doesn’t work. You don’t lose belly fat by doing abdominal exercises. I’m not saying that you have to eliminate abs exercises completely from your exercise routine. On the contrary. You need to do them to have a strong core. But if you’re trying to lose belly fat, there are better ways to accomplish this goal.

2. Focus on multi-joint exercises that work the largest muscle groups of the body.

By performing exercises that work the legs, chest, and back. That’s the true secret for losing that belly fat for good. You should be doing deadlifts, squats, presses and rows. Notice I didn’t mention crunches or sit-ups.

Multi-joint exercises work the greatest amounts of muscles in the body, and this stimulates an increase in fat-burning hormones. You simply can’t get similar metabolic and hormonal responses by doing endless sets of crunches or leg raises.

3. Stop following fad diets.

There’s a reason why fad diets don’t work for belly fat loss. Most Fad diets, such as low carb, juice diets, or any other diet that restrict one or more macro nutrient destroys the processes related to the hormonal balance in your body such as the muscle glycogen process, insulin, blood sugar, etc. This stops your fat loss progress in its tracks.

And besides, no one can live off of these faddish diets for any length of time and they end up making you fatter in the long run, once you start to eat normal again.

There you have it–the 3 most powerful tips for helping you lose fat I can give you. So if you really want to lose belly fat, then stop wasting your time doing endless reps of abs exercises. Instead, get your **** under a barbell and do some squats. While you’re at it, do some deadlifts (any variation), some rows such as bent over barbell rows, and presses such as bench and military presses. Stay away from fad diets and focus on a healthy, balanced diet instead.

Stick to the tips that I’ve covered in this article and you will begin to make serious progress in your efforts to lose belly fat. Sure, there are many more fat loss strategies that I could mention but the two I’ve outlined are a great starting point.
