Great question! One way to make sure you’re contracting yo r abs is to lay on your back with knees bent (in the begining crunch position). Take your hands with fingers spread apart and “tap” many times all around your abdomen and try to “tighten” the muscles under your fingers. You should feel the muscles become activated (firm) under your hands. Keep this activation and start your exercise. We call this abdominal bracing and it’s a great way to activate the core abdominal muscles right before performing the exercise. I hope this helps…..
