Ab exercises for someone with scoliosis?
September 12th, 2009 | by abs |The John Phenomenon asked:
I was just diagnosed with mild scoliosis two years ago. And it hurts my back even when I lay down on an exercise mat. I can do curl-ups and sit-ups but not many. I’m trying to get rid of a lot of extra skin I have on my stomach. Does anyone know of an ab exercise I can do that won’t injure my back further? Or any ab exercise that doesn’t involve the back or laying down?

Inhale deep through your nose; before you exhale through your mouth, perce your lips together so that when you do exhale you a “pah” sound. Exhale all of the air out, **** in your stomach (like pulling in your belly button toward your back) close your mouth and hold your breath for a count of 3. This really woks well and won’t hurt your back!! good luck!

i know this answer isnt for abs (i’m actually looking for something for my abs too since i have mild scoliosis as well) but, try yoga and accupuncture, its great for your back!
maybe with some soothing in your back, you will be able to work out your abs!

My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product which I think helps a lot in the process. I recommend you check this website , they have a free trial and you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling. Good luck!

Never do sit-ups or curl-ups. That’s too much stress on your back. Crunches are good for someone with scoliosis. Another thing to do is swimming, although that’s not ab-specific. Many have also raved about yoga or pilates.
Would a blanket folded a couple of times and placed on the exercise mat help?

I would stick with stability exercises like the plank and stay away from hanging leg raises.
